Each school in NSW offers something slightly different depending on the community. Here's what we offer for you.
Canteen
All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements. These include providing more healthy food and drink options – to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students. Visit Healthy school canteens to learn more.
Out of School Hours Care
Before and After School Care at our school is proudly operated by The Y NSW, providing high-quality, reliable care on school premises.
The program ensures a safe and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and grow under the supervision of highly trained and qualified staff.
Families can drop off their children as early as 7:00 AM, with morning supervision concluding at 9:00AM. After school, care resumes at 3:00 PM and runs until 6:00 PM, offering flexibility and peace of mind for working families.
YMCA Matraville also offers Vacation Care during school holidays, operating from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Our program provides a variety of engaging activities, including crafts, workshops, cooking experiences and sports, ensuring children have a fun and enriching break. We also offer breakfast and afternoon tea.
At OOSH, The Y are committed to providing enriching experiences that cater to children's unique interests and abilities. Our program offers a diverse range of activities designed to develop and strengthen children's talents while fostering creativity, teamwork and self-confidence. We strive to create a welcoming and stimulating environment where children and young people can explore their passions, develop new skills and build meaningful relationships. Through high-quality care and thoughtfully designed programs, OOSH nurtures each child's potential, inspiring them to thrive. Children participate in team sports, dance, cooking, art and craft, and engaging discussions, along with indoor and outdoor play. Homework support is also encouraged, ensuring a balanced approach to learning and recreation. We prioritise healthy lifestyles by providing nutritious breakfast and afternoon tea. Outdoor active play is encouraged daily to support physical well-being and social interaction.
Reduce your out-of-pocket costs with the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)! Eligible families can receive financial support to lower the cost of OOSH care.

Uniforms
When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.
Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:
meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation
includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics
is appropriate for the full range of school activities
is suitable for all body shapes.
