A year at our school

At Matraville Public School, sport is a big part of our community spirit. Each year, our students proudly compete in swimming, athletics, and cross-country carnivals, showcasing their talent, teamwork, and determination. These events bring our school together, encourage healthy competition and give every student the chance to shine.

Every year, Matraville Public School proudly celebrates NAIDOC Week, honouring the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our students engage in meaningful activities such as storytelling, art, dance, and learning from community Elders. These celebrations help us strengthen connections, deepen understanding, and show respect for the world’s oldest continuing cultures.

Each year, Matraville Public School comes alive with the magic of stories during Book Week. Students and teachers celebrate their love of reading through creative activities, engaging performances, and of course, the much-loved Book Character Parade. It’s a special time where imagination takes centre stage, and our school community comes together to share the joy of books.
